Sheffield Forgemasters are looking for Apprentice NDT Technicians

Sheffield Forgemasters are looking for any young and enthusiastic individuals interested in becoming an Apprentice NDT Technician within the Sheffield (S9) area, which is also commutable from Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, and Chesterfield.
They also have an award winning apprenticeship program which currently employs over 30 apprentices across their sites in all disciplines.
What does the role involve day to day?
Duties will include:
- Testing for conformance to ultrasonic testing, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Dye Penetrant inspection and visual inspection standards to ensure that the high integrity forgings and castings meets specified requirements
- Testing of final product to validate that it will provide the required service performance
- Completion, storing and updating all relevant technical records
- Liaising with all relevant personnel and departments
Qualification to be achieved as a part of the apprenticeship:
Extensive internal and external training will be carried out including NDT L2 in three methods – Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle Testing and Dye Penetrant Testing and L 3 NVQ in Business Improvement Techniques. There is a possibility of further/higher education including higher level accredited NDT courses.
What are we looking for from applicants?
It is essential for the candidate to have:
- 5GCSE’s Grades A to C including Maths, English and Science.
- A good standard of numeracy and literacy
- Applicants should be enthusiastic, dedicated, punctual, have a willingness to learn, a positive attitude and above all, a desire to work in a heavy engineering environment.
- Contract type: Permanent, Hours of work Monday – Friday: 07.45 – 16.00.
